Our binational effort with the Netherlands is between FHWA and Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), the executive arm of the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. FHWA and RWS have a long history of exchange activities that was formalized in 2009. Currently, FHWA and RWS are collaborating on two topics, Cooperative Automation Driving Systems and Engineering through Nature, for the 2019-2021 term. We are currently working on determining future topics of collaboration. Previous topics have included: Road Safety, Performance Measurement, Project Acceleration, Infrastructure Resilience and Adaptation, Emergency/Crisis Management, and Cycling. This is an extremely valuable relationship that has benefitted both countries.
