RWS is the executive arm of the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. FHWA and RWS have a long history of exchange activities. The topics that have been addressed under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2009 include: Road Safety, Performance Measurement, Project Acceleration, Infrastructure Resilience and Adaptation, Emergency/Crisis Management, a continuation of the Infrastructure Resilience and Adaptation topic by way of one pilot project in each country, Cycling, Nature-based Solutions, and Cooperative Automation Driving Systems. The current topic of our bilateral collaboration is Climate Change Sustainability and Resilience.
