Western Hemisphere ProgramMexicoIn response to the North American Free Trade Agreement, OIP, in association with the Ministry of Communication and Transportation of Mexico (SCT) launched the Border Technology Exchange Program (BTEP). Each of the four U.S. Border states now works in cooperation with their six Mexican state counterparts in the development and maintenance of Technology Transfer (T2) centers. The T2 Centers act as points of contact to facilitate the exchange of information and transportation technology between the U.S. and Mexico. These centers facilitate relationship building and provide centers for the dissemination of information between the two countries. The continuing mission of the centers is to provide for safe, efficient, secure and seamless movement of people and goods across borders. Cooperation with Mexico is also carried on directly through government-to-government initiatives under the Western Hemisphere Program. One example of this type of cooperative activity is participation by Mexico in a workshop hosted by FHWA to highlight the expansion of the Western Hemisphere Program (WHP). |
