Potential FHWA/AASHTO India Mission

The FHWA and AASHTO, with support from National Highway Cooperative Research Program Project Panel 20-36 "Highway Research and Technology - International Information Sharing," are currently exploring a possible mission to India. It is recognized that India is becoming an increasingly important economic and technological force in the international community and it is important for the U.S. to learn more about transportation advances and opportunities there. It is anticipated that a potential mission to India would focus on policy-level issues related to road transportation and would include senior FHWA and State DOT representatives. The goal of this effort would be to gain an awareness of what India is doing to modernize its highway system and to establish a mechanism for international exchange and collaboration between FHWA/AASHTO and India's Transportation Ministry, as well as other Indian highway transportation organizations/entities.
