Israel

A Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the FHWA and its counterpart, the Israeli National Roads Company (INRC) was signed in 2007. The MOC builds on previous cooperation between FHWA and Israel, including FHWA participation in a workshop sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for Israeli counterparts.

In 2008, FHWA and INRC will continue to work together on additional information sharing activities. Plans for the coming year include:

• FHWA review of INRC safety audits,
• Cooperation with INRC on ITS architecture modeling.
• Sharing of information on Public Finance Initiatives/ Public Private Partnerships
• Possible joint research activities in coordination with the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center.
• Coordination of twinning activities between INRC and Georgia Department of Transportation
